Dr. Forrest M. Smith, Jr., known to most as Â"FrostyÂ", flew to heaven early Thursday morning after a full and fruitful life. Born in El Paso on May 14, 1927, Frosty was born to Forrest and Harriet Smith and was big brother, Â"BuddyÂ" to Paul Bim and David Davo.
He attended the University of Texas where he began lifelong friendships as a Phi Gam. After a stint in the Navy during World War II, he attended Pennsylvania Medical School where he met and married Betty Gant. They enjoyed 52 wonderful years together and raised four children, Forrest III, Madison, Alexine and Harriet.
He gained four more children as each married; Cathy Ann, Cathy O., Peter and Mike. We are so grateful to have had Dad as our dad. To his 11 grandchildren, he was Â"PoppyÂ". Whitney, Hallie, Drew, Forrest IV, Peter, Jr., Sydney, Sam, Julia, Claire, Emma and Michael; he filled them with kindness and encouragement.
Frosty practiced his own, very special brand of pediatrics for 48 years. Those of you who went to Â"Dr. FrostyÂ" know what we mean. In a sense, his care will continue through Dr. SmithÂ's Diaper Ointment, a venture he helped found with faithful, long time colleagues.
Above all, Frosty loved God. With each passing year, he seemed to grow younger in his spirit and closer to the Lord. He regarded each person with acceptance, warmth and encouragement. No one was a stranger to Frosty for long. His favorite greeting was an Â"abrasoÂ" otherwise know as a hug.
Frosty Smith was a lover in the best sense of the word. We will miss him but, will also celebrate a life fully lived. Well done, good and faithful servant.

My children and myself just loved Dr. Smith. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Dr. Smith helped us very much throughout the years. We would go see him for various things even after my children were grown. They are now 26 and 24 years of age. My son 24 went for his first real job interview after graduating from college, they asked him to go to his doctor for a physical this was in April of

My son 24 went for his first real job interview after graduating from college, they asked him to go to his doctor for a physical this was in April of this year he called me, to find out if I would please call Dr Smith. When I called, the number had been disconnected, when I told my son, he was silent for a moment and disappointed. My mom was reading the paper a few weeks later when she saw the article that Dr Smith had passed away, he was still in our thoughts years later, and we will never forget him.

My mother was visiting this week and told me of your recent loss. It has been more years than I care to think about since I had the opportunity to see Dr.Smith, but I will never forget his kindness and how he always made me feel welcome in your home. Having lost my own Dad several years ago, I know how difficult a time this is for all of you. I pray that through his Spirit you will feel God's presence more than you have ever before and that He will pour out on your family an extra portion of his abundance grace.

I just saw Sunday's paper yesterday and read about Frosty's death and service last week...I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Frosty was so kind to everyone. I will always remember how wonderful he was to take care of my brother Ron when he pushed his hand through the choir room window at AHHS...He always had a smile on his face...even when I had to phone home about something Forrest had done in class...You children are all adults now

Please know that many people loved and honored your Dad and that he will be remembered by those who knew him. I am sorry for the pain you feel. Having known you all when you were much younger, you are all somewhat frozen in time in my memory, but you are all a very special part of my past. My thoughts and prayers are with you now and always...Ilene Arbetter

Harriet and Mike, Last night in BSF I learned of Frosty's 'promotion to glory.' I specifically remember his smile when I told him what a wonderful daughter he had raised to put up with a husband who took tour groups to Israel all the time. It was the first month or so after Etta and I had been to Israel with Mike and Ron, and it was the shake hands and greet segment of BSF. It is always encouraging to
