"I am so sorry to learn of Matt's passing. I met him while I was working at a cardiology clinic in San Antonio in 2011. He always had a sweet, calm disposition about him and the prettiest blue eyes. I ran into him again in my hometown of Del Rio in 2014 and he remembered me, and I was so happy to see him. RIP Matt and may God comfort your family, friends, and co-workers in this difficult time."

"Met him as a vivacious and endearing Marin cyclist -- "GOOD GRIEF, how can ANYBODY ride those hills?" -- while I was a handlebar-less SF journalist. Came to delight in and value (despite the miles and the years' passed) the quirky friendship that had developed "back in the day" through our conduit, Jay O'Connor. Ahh, fond memories of sipping & nibbling Sonoma County's finest. To this day, when the subject of "real" mtn biking comes into play, it is actually Matt whose image appears. I suspect he would find it most amusing that I and my mid-western Hubby are proud "Salsa Fat Tire Bike" owners.
MY WARMEST and BEST to the family he (temporarily) leaves behind.

"Matt, it's been a Wedding ago or two, since we have seen each other. For those of you that don't know, my Friend JP brought Matt to my Wedding as his Guest. I knew Matt before that and Shared many Good Memories. And never a Bad one. Matt was a Kind and Gracious Soul and he will be Missed by All. The World is a Better Place because of him. My Deepest Prayers go out to his Family and especially to his two daughters, who need to know the True, Kind Man that their Father was inside."

"I am so fortunate that Lenny had the opportunity to meet Matt at our commitment ceremony year before last. Handsome, friendly, helpful, always the gentleman and usually pretty funny. Lenny didn't really get a chance to know him but I did and I love him and we wish him peace."

"Although I only met Matthew a few times, he was always a genuinely nice guy. He was loved by many. RIP buddy."

"My uncle Matty was such a great man. If you didn't know him and talked to him for even a minute, I can guarantee you would be friends by the end of that conversation. He had such an easy going personality that you just wanted around. Matt was truly a renaissance man; Isabella will grow up rocking on the beautifully crafted rocking horse and Keith and I will cook, using the beautiful cutting board (both of which he and Kristen made with love)...all the while remembering and feeling his fantastic spirit. Heaven is one angel brighter My prayers and positive vibes are now given, in mass quantities, to my cousins, my aunt, Matt's mother and step father and the other family so greatly impacted by his untimely passing.❤"
