Tribute & Message From The Family

Served in the USMC for 31 years

Col. Walter Sienko Ret. went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2015. His parents emigrated from Poland and Walt became part of the first generation of his family to be born in America. He was born in the small town of Pe Ell, Washington in 1921. Walt went to the University of Washington to study pharmacy but his studies were cut short with the start of World War II. He became a proud Marine and went on to serve proudly for 31 years. As a pilot, he flew planes in the Pacific in World War II and later transferred to helicopters. Walt flew in both the Korean and Viet Nam conflicts. He was also asked to join HMX-1 and was able to fly Marine 1 for both President Kennedy and President Johnson. He was the commanding
officer of the last helicopter crew for President Kennedy.

After retiring from the military, Walt worked as a realtor in Mission Viejo, CA for several years. He enjoyed the warm weather and traveling with his lovely wife, Midge. Walt and Midge later decided to move to Texas to be closer to their son, Kenneth and his family. They enjoyed getting to know their grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Sienko, and were proud of all their accomplishments.

Walt is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 64 years. They were a loving couple who loved life and a good party. They will both be missed. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice and raise a glass in his memory. Semper Fi Walt.
