Tribute & Message From The Family

If Glenn saw a need, he was the first to offer his help in any way he could.

Glenn F. Boswell, "Boz", age 72, of San Antonio passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017. He was born on November 9, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Vincenta Buzzelli; father, John C. Boswell; son, David Boswell and wife Rachel Boswell; son, Cory Boswell and wife Lori Roher; daughter, Laura Buzzelli and husband Dan Bellinger; daughter, Beverly Buzzelli and husband Ryan Ramos; seven grandchildren; sister, Vickie Dillow and husband Mike Dillow; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Boswell.

Glenn moved to San Antonio upon graduation from Southern Illinois University 48 years ago and he taught at San Antonio College (SAC) for over 30 of those years. He had many longtime friendships with the staff and students that walked through the halls at SAC. Many of his students described Glenn as a great teacher, always eager to help them learn. Broadening his horizons and mentoring students, in the ever changing world of technology, were his passions. He was extremely thankful to be employed the majority of his life doing what brought him the greatest fulfillment. In his spare time, he enjoyed building and playing with computers, sowing into the lives of his kids and grandkids and overall talking to whoever he came across. Glenn was a member of many groups and donated his time to various charity organizations. If Glenn saw a need, he was the first to offer his help in any way he could; he was a dedicated, generous, caring man.

There will be a memorial service on Sunday, August 20th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Porter Loring North.

His family thanks everyone for the kind thoughts and wishes we have received. Glenn was very much loved and will be missed by all those who knew him.

My condolences on the passing of a great guy. Glenn and I taught in the same building, and I could always count on a warm greeting and friendly smile when I saw him. A short while back, I was exiting the building and saw Glenn outside the exit. I greeted him and asked if he needed help with something. His response was, "No, but you can help me by taking in some sunshine with me if you want. It's a beautiful day." Glenn enjoyed life.

I met "Boz" at SAC at the beginning of 2017. He was volunteering to help students on Wednesday afternoon in an open classroom setting. He helped me with by classes and for that I am thankful. But I am more thankful to have met a kind and caring individual that truly knew what the word "GIVING" was about. You could see that he truly cared and enjoyed seeing the "light turning on" moment when he was teaching someone. I am grateful to have had the privilege to have known "Boz" even if it was for just a short amount of time. His impression on me will be long lasting.

Boz was a wonderful person. He never failed to amaze me with the effort he would exert to help someone. Always smiling, his happiness was a joy. I pray that his Goldwing up in Heaven is as wonderful as Boz was.

Mr. Boswell was my teacher at SAC many years ago when I took Linux 1. I went on to shift my career towards Linux and have worked with it ever since. I remember Boz as being a kind, funny, and informative teacher. My condolences to his family. You are in my prayers.

My deepest condolences to Mr. B's family and friends. I am deeply saddened by his passing. Mr. B was my professor and mentor at SAC. He believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. He helped me in my career after I graduated and I kept in touch with him. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Mr B was a great man and I respected him immensely.

Glenn was man with a big heart and a willingness to help anyone in need. He dedicated himself to his family and still made time to help in the community. It was an honor to have spent the last several years getting to know Glenn and he is sorely missed. You just don't come across many people with a heart as big as Glenn's and the world has lost a truly special man.
