Tribute & Message From The Family

Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Michael by adding your memories and photos.

Francisco H. "Michael" Lucero passed away peacefully on January 21, 2018. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, a career cut short when he suffered severe injuries in Vietnam. He was medically retired as a SFC, after a long recovery in the burn center at SAMMC. He then returned to his native Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he received his BA from the University of Albuquerque. In 1974 he moved back to San Antonio and taught Special Education before retiring again to a leisurely life on the golf course, where he was especially proud of his seven holes in one.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Carmen Lucero; his brother, Richard Lucero, all from Albuquerque; his stepsons, Scott and Jeff Eells, and a step-grandson, Ashley Eells.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Marty Lucero; his children, Garry Chandler (Tami) of Granbury, Texas, Mark Lucero (Fredreka), Katrina Lucero, Teri Higgins (Jeff) all from Albuquerque; and step daughters, Susan Waechter and Ginger Dukes (Jimmy). Additionally, grandchildren, Jared, Joel, Jesse, Rita, Danielle; and step grandchildren, Jacob, Jeff, Travis, Samantha, and Jessica; 3 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren.

Michael was a fun loving person who was devoted to his family, the Army, golf, and his big-screen TV. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
