Tribute & Message From The Family

Judith Russell Smith, age 79, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. Judith was born November 4, 1938 to James K. Russell and Ethel M. Fesmeyer in Donora, PA. After graduating from Donora High School in 1956, she completed her bachelors degree in English at Seton Hill College, followed by her masters degree from Duquesne University. She enjoyed her work for the state of Pennsylvania legislature and department of corrections and later as a special education teacher in the Cleveland schools. Judy had a lifelong love of football. She was a faithful wife and Roman Catholic. She was a great lover of British history and the great authors of western literature. Her affinity for the written word was matched by her skill as an artist, especially when painting her watercolors. She was also a great animal lover, particularly all the family pets. She was preceded in death by her parents, James K. Russell and Ethel M Fesmeyer. Judith is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ronald Smith; son, Ted Smith (Lorien); and grandchildren, Luke Smith and Evan Smith.

Condolence & Memory Journal

I went all thru grade school and high school with her and we remained friends all our lives. If she had a fault it was she was too good. God bless, Judy

Dear Judith Russell Smith Family,

Our deepest and sincere sympathy with the loss of your beloved Judith. Judith was our classmate at the Donora High School, Donora, PA. We all have fond memories of the good times that we spent with Judy. She was a lot fun, sweet and so pretty. We especially have wonderful memories of her father, James Russell who was the football coach at our school. Our sincere sympathy to her husband, son and his family who she loved dearly.

Dear Judith Russell Smith Family,

Our sincere and deepest sympathy with the loss of your beloved Judith. May God give Judith peace and eternal rest. World has lost a wonderful person. Judith was my classmate at DHS, Donora, PA and I have fond and beautiful memories of her. Judith was so sweet, kind, intelligent, loved her parents dearly, and was a lot of fun to be with. Over the years when I spoke with Judith her husband, son and his family were the "love of her life." All of us will miss her immensely.

Love and sympathy.

Judy was a fellow 1956 Donora classmate. I would watch her draw and wonder how anyone could be
such a wonderful artist. I remember her dad, Coach Russell, who instilled in me a love of history.
Our sympathy and prayers to all her loved ones and family.

Judy was my mom's double-cousin, so I'm not even sure what she was to me. (Double-cousin once removed?) Whatever the case: she was a smart, strong woman and, in this way, a model for my daughter and my daughter to come about how to live a life. Also, her thoughtful, painstaking work in assembling the family history is, and will be, greatly appreciated.

Judy and I chose the same year to be born 1938. Art Kelly, her cousin, and I enjoyed the many family picnics with her and Ron. I am so glad she was able to be with her grandchildren til the end of her time.
