Tribute & Message From The Family

Thomas Lee Major, age 65 of Bulverde passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 in San Antonio, TX.

Lee was born on June 13, 1953 in El Paso, Texas, the oldest child of "Doc" and Chess Major. Beneath his tough exterior, he was a man who loved to teach and help others. At the age of 12, he saved a baby's life while serving as a school crossing guard. He was honored by a trip to Washington D.C. where president Lyndon B. Johnson presented a medal to him for his braveness. Lee was also an adventurer. As a child his father, who worked for the Department of Agriculture, would take him and his brother to the Rio Grande to bring cattle across from Mexico. These trips Lee would talk about fondly. Throughout his life, he was a very determined and hardworking man. With unquestionable work ethic and energy, he worked for 20 years with L'Oréal cosmetics.

He was preceded in death by his parents and long-time family friend, Basil Smith. Lee is survived by his wife of 30 years, Martha Major; son, Thomas Lee Major, Jr. and wife Anna; brother, Tim Major and wife Charlotte; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins; and longtime friends, the Smith family.
We would like to thank the doctors and staff at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital for their care and dedication to Lee. The family would also like to say how proud we are of Lee and his perseverance in fighting the good fight. When so many others would have given up he pushed through to live for Martha and family, and to serve and help others. We are blessed to have known him and are comforted to know he can finally rest easy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the State of Texas Kidney Foundation, 4204 Gardendale #106, San Antonio, TX 78229.
