Mary Sue "Susie" Miranda, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband, Manuel P. Miranda, passed away at her home on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the age of 82 years old. She was born on December 24, 1936 to Apolonio and Antonia Gerardo in San Antonio, Texas.

She graduated from Harlandale High in 1954, and received a scholarship to Trinity University and transferred to Southwest State, now Texas State, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, she continued her education and in 1977 received a Master of Art Degree at UTSA. She was a teacher for over 30 years starting at Columbia Heights, St. Philip's College Adult Education, Bexar County Continuing Education, and eventually retiring from Ball Elementary in 1995. She was always interested in helping others to further their education in both the public school system and within her own church family.

She was a member of the San Antonio Teacher's and Area Retired Teachers Associations. A proud member of Santa Fe Episcopal Church, which she served several years on the Bishop's Committee and a supporter of the Kids Summer Program at Santa Fe. Later in life, Susie used her teaching and religious background and became a Spiritual Director at the Center for Spiritual Growth and Contemplative Life and counselor at The Ecumenical Center for Religion and Health.

During her time advancing her college education, Susie and Manuel were married in 1959 and started and raised a family of four sons and daughters. They were married 46 years until Manuel's death in 2005. She and her husband were very active in their children's sport and coached many of their softball teams. During her summer time off, the family traveled to many places including, Mexico, Disneyland, and the Grand Canyon. After retirement, her and Manuel would take trips to Las Vegas, traveled back to Mexico, took a European tour to Italy, Spain and Germany, and a Norwegian cruise to Alaska, they were always looking forward to the next trip.

Susie was preceded in death by, her parents and husband, Manuel Sr. Susie is survived by her daughters, Patricia and Phoebe Miranda; sons, Manuel (Patti) and Robert (Paula), grandchildren, JoAnna Ivarra (Dominic), Angela Merriweather (Anthony), Lisa Miranda Acevedo (Edgar), Gayla Sotello, Erica, Alyssa, Lauren, Shelys, Natalie and Robert Miranda; great-grandchildren, Adiana and Analisa Ivarra, Chloe Merriweather, Mia Acevedo, Alyvia Swan; she is also survived by her Aunt Naya, several cousins and her very best friend, Angela Castillo.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the chapel at Porter Loring on McCullough Ave.
