Aunt Dorthea will be truly missed by our family. Words can not express our deep sorrow in her passing. She was a prominent and intricate part of our family since we were children. I honestly can not imagine our lives without her as she was part of every chapter and celebratory milestones. She loved us like a Grandmother and for that we are forever grateful. Aunt Dorthea was one of a kind and she lived a life worthy of example. She was a strong, independent, proper and confident woman. I have never met her equal; nor will I ever. She will be forever missed and never forgotten. We part to meet again - Jon Gay

Dorothea is my Aunt and I cherish the memories I have of her. She had a way of making everyone feel special in their own way. She made Christmas such an exciting time for my brother, sister and me that we could hardly wait for Christmas to come around each year. I have tried to carry those traditions forward with my growing family. We have been blessed to have her for 101 years, thankful for every moment we had with her. Rest with God, Aunt Dorothea. You will be forever in my heart.

Hi - I grew up living next door to Mr. & Mrs. Helmke and exchanged Christmas cards with her for many, many years up until we lost touch about 5 or 6 years ago. She was a very special lady - and always a lady. They were wonderful neighbors. My mom and she were Bluebirds together at one time. I will never forget her and I will keep the family in my prayers.
