Tribute & Message From The Family

Joan Weart passed away on June 23, 2019 at the age of 90 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in the Panama Canal Zone to David and Katherine Dunne. Her father was in the Army Corps of Engineers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Douglas Spoor Weart; her son, Douglas David Weart, and her sister Katherine Gail Maca.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, seven grandchildren and their spouses, and eight great grandchildren.

Joan was raised in a military family and lived in numerous Army posts across the United States and the Panama Canal Zone.

She graduated from the University of Maryland as a Tri Delt and on August 12, 1950 she married an Air Force pilot, Douglas Weart. Her many moves continued based on Doug's Air Force career.

They moved to San Antonio in 1975 and adopted it as their hometown.

Because of her belief that we should all be involved in our communities, Joan was very active in Girl Scouts, her church, and Assistance League. We will miss her wonderful story telling and knowledge of history.

She cherished family and friends and will be missed by all of them.

Condolence & Memory Journal

The Girl Scout family of Loree Cameron, Jean Peffers, Suann Agold, Elaine Hardman, Anne Winsett, & Adrienne King did not know of Joan's passing until today, October 3. It is with sincere sorrow that we acknowledge what a very special person Joan was and only wish we had known to be present with the family at her funeral. When was she buried?
