Tribute & Message From The Family

On Friday, July 17, 2020, Phillip Reese Spicer Jr., loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 68. Phil was born January 12, 1952 in Fort Collins, Colorado. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from St. Mary's School of Law. Phil practiced law in San Antonio for over 40 years.

Phil had a passion for reading and history and was a devoted Texas Longhorn sports fan. He enjoyed eating barbecue all across Texas and had a great love of all things cherry flavored. People who knew Phil described him as someone who could always be counted on. He was constantly offering pro bono work to family and friends.

Phil is survived by his wife, Lana Spicer; his three sons, Phillip Spicer III, his wife Nadina Sweeney; Benjamin Spicer, his wife Elle and their son Wesley; William Spicer, his wife Kimberly and their son Andrew; his sisters Laurie Schindler, Patricia Allen, and Lisa Howard, and many other family members and friends. Phil was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Spicer Sr., and his mother Adrienne Wurzbach Spicer.

Phil will lie in state Thursday, July 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Porter Loring North, and will be interred Friday morning in an intimate family ceremony. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to a memorial fund that will be split among Phil's favorite charities, as there were a few close to his heart.
