Tribute & Message From The Family

Rita M. Martinez born in San Antonio, Texas, August 24,1945 has gone to be with the Lord on July 13, 2020. Rita is preceded in death by her father, Margil G. Espinoza. She is survived by her loving husband, Carlos Martinez of 54 years; her 94-year-old mother, Mary Sue Espinoza; one brother, Albert Espinoza and her two daughters, Angela D. Alderete and Cynthia J. Rosas; two sons in law, Richard Alderete Jr. and Francisco Rosas Jr.; her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren; her wonderful caretaker, Diane DeLeon and many loved family members and friends. Rita enjoyed her time in Mountain Home, Idaho where she and Carlos were stationed while in the Air Force. She was very patriotic. Rita loved supporting her husband throughout his career in the military and his career of service to the veterans. After returning to San Antonio, she worked as a phone operator with St. Luke hospital, then thereafter had a wonderful long career with SAISD, where she met great friends and made long lasting friendships. She loved Christmas and giving little gifts to everyone there from the custodians to her fellow secretaries. Rita loved doing the sweet little things to let you know she thought about you. After her retirement she really enjoyed attending the Retired Secretaries Luncheons. If you knew Rita, then you knew how she loved her red lipstick and heels. Now with no need for a wheelchair or oxygen, I'm sure she's clicking those heels and saying "there is no place like home". She is so loved and will be greatly missed. Since then Rita's husband Carlos has passed and has followed her home.

The family will be doing a Live Stream of Carlos & Rita Martinez' services which will include Carlos' full military honors provided by Porter Loring Funeral Home on August 24,2020 @ 9:30 a.m. Please join us by clicking on this link: https://admin.mediafusionapp.com/_live/embedPlayer.php?contentId=86552

Sincere thanks to all who will be attending virtually due to the Covid restrictions on attendees.
