We grew up in a neighborhood that was so much fun. Jerry was a big reason it was so much fun. Great memories of those times. He will be missed. On August 19, 2020 there was a new STAR added in the sky and it shines very bright.

Jerry was 3 years behind me when attending Lee Highschool. I didn't get to know Jerry until later in life and he was a great individual, very caring and very helpful to our family. Larry, I know we haven't seen each other in years but I am truely sorry for your loss of a brother that was so dear to you & my sincere sympathy to your family. I'am sorry I can't attend the service but I will be thinking of you and your family.

So many memories over so many years. Truly grateful for all the happy ones, and even for the hard ones. We love all of you Townsends, and our love, thoughts and prayers are with you all. Robert and Georganne Freund

Jerry was my Brother in Blue on the SAPD, as my partner/mentor, and best of all, he was my closest friend. Jerry's love and devotion to his family was expressed in all that he said and did. The world of his Grandchildren constantly fed his enthusiasm for life. Joan, as his soulmate, could not have been a more perfect match.
Jerry's wisdom, quirky sense of humor, talent for story-tellling, endless curiosity, enthusiasm for adventure, and his loyal friendship will be sorely missed.
It is comforting to know that Jerry is in The Lord's loving embrace.

I had Jerry at some of my classes at Lee, and I too graduated in1967, I remember him well, and he played exceptionally well on the Lee Varsity Football team. I didn't know much of his personal life, but I knew from school, that he had a sense of humor, and that he would have a great future ahead of him, God Bless him on his next Journey, and the reality that we will all be with our loved ones again one day, See you in Heaven Jerry!!! I'm so sorry to hear about Jerry. I knew him thru my cousins, Ronnie, Susan, and Garry Rackley. He seemed to be a lighthearted loving guy. In 1965, I was a cheerleader at Highlands and Larry and Jerry were football players at Robert E Lee, there was quite a rivalry between Robert E Lee and HHS in 1965. There was also a tiff between my mom, Ruth and Aunt LC , regarding whose side Uncle LW and Aunt LC (Uncle LW was my mom's brother and Larry and Jerry were Aunt LC's nephews) should sit on for the football game between us. Looking back, it is a silly and funny story, I don't even remember who won that game! I do know that Jerry having Aunt LC and Uncle LW as family was a true blessing for him. My condolences to his family. Reading his accomplishments, sounds like he lived a full and happy life. May God bless and comfort you during this difficult time.

Joan....Our paths may have crossed only once or twice since Lee graduation, but when I learned of Jerry's passing, my heart broke for you. You Two were not only High School Sweethearts, but True Soulmates! I pray that God will heal your broken heart, comfort you with wonderful memories, and wrap His Arms around you and your family

We have so many wonderful, fun filled memories of times spent with Jerry and Joan during the last 40 years. Fishing and camping at Buchanan Lake, eating lots of Mexican food with cerveza and margaritas, telling jokes, going through the growing pains of our children as they became fine adults, and through all of this enjoying a friendship that doesn't end in this life. May God bless the entire Townsend family with comfort, peace, strength and wonderful memories of this strong, loving and caring man. Jerry was a great friend and very special person.
