Obituary

Beloved husband, son, uncle, and friend, Abel C. Salinas, 55, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 10, 2020 in San Antonio, TX.

Abel was born on October 24, 1964 and raised in San Antonio by his loving parents Gilbert and Rose Marie Salinas. Abel graduated from Luther Burbank High School and received his Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice from Southwest Texas State. After graduation, he joined the Adult Probation Department where he worked his way up the ranks to Assistant Chief of Adult Probation of Bexar County and retired with 27 years of service.

Growing up, Abel was passionate about sports. He played football, basketball, and baseball throughout his school years. He had a passionate love for the outdoors, his wife, and his family. He was often found fishing, hunting, golfing, enjoying the outdoors from sunrise to sunset, and often spotted at Home Depot or Academy Sports and Outdoor. He enjoyed being with friends and family. He really knew how to inject humor into any situation and make people come together.

Abel was a man of superb intelligence, kind to many, a skilled handyman that found a solution to anything (via YouTube), and he took pride in his well-kept manicured lawn (best yard on the block).

More than anything, his greatest happiness in life was his beloved wife, Rosie. They shared a beautiful love so large grounded in adoration for one another, patience, strength, and a sense of fun. They shared their home with their fur babies Lola, Ernie, Oscar, and Max. Together, they loved to travel, ride bikes, hike, walk their dogs, and were up for all kinds of adventures and especially loved going to concerts.

Abel is survived by his wife Rose Ibarra Salinas; parents Gilbert and Rose Marie Salinas; brother
Gilbert Salinas (Becky); sisters Veronica Segura Zuniga (Sergio), Chastity Barreda (Joseph); nephews Aaron, JP, Eric, Adam, AJ, Cameron, Ryan, and Christian; nieces Kimberly, Merissa, Jessica, Brittany, Karissa, Kaiyah, and Brianna; and numerous friends.
