Adela Mauricio "Estella" Barron
April 14, 1919 – June 8, 2018

Mrs. Estella Barron, widow of Felix G. Barron, Jr. passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord, on Friday, June 8th.

Mother was widowed in 1957 after father died of Leukemia. At the time of his death, he was employed at Kelly Field as a firefighter and was a WWII veteran. They had just moved into their new home. It was her strength, courage and faith in God that kept her moving forward; continuing to live in their house for 62 more years. She worked as a housekeeper and later worked civil service, retiring from the Logistics Division, Housekeeping Branch at BAMC on Ft Sam Houston. She worked hard to care for us and continue the life they had together. She knew nothing about complaining or self-pity. She was of the greatest generation. She kept father's memory alive, in the devotion and love they had for us children. Father adored us girls, he called us his babies and was committed and loving to the boys.

She worked tirelessly and taught us strength, hard work and commitment, instilling in us a belief that with hard work anything is possible. And she let us live our lives, never burdening us with whatever worries or struggles she had. She finally left her house to go into the Lord's presence. Always fiercely independent, determined and strong willed, moving forward until the day her work on this earth was done.

Preceding her were parents Isidro and Aurelia Mauricio; son Ruben M. Estrella, son-in-law Albert E. Salinas, grandson Ruben Estrella Jr, and great-grandson Nicolas Trevino.

Surviving her are daughters, Helen Barron Salinas, Linda Barron Cortez, Allison Barron Newcomb; son, Tony M. Rivera; daughter-in-law, Amelia Estrella; and son-in-law, Rick Cortez. Surviving grandchildren are Helen's children, Veronica & Bert; Linda's sons, Eric & Justin; Allison's children, Brian, Scott, Ashley, Cody & Timothy; Ruben's children, Ruby Ann & Ruben Cantu, and Tony's children, Tony Jr & Grace; 20 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren with the latest being Felix James Garza, son of Brian and Katy Garza.

To God be all the glory for this life well lived. Rest in peace Mother and Poppy- we will never forget you.
