Obituary

Agnes C. Specia (Teddie) was born Aglaia Theadora Constantine in New London Connecticut, May 27, 1921. After graduating from Mary Washington College, she taught school in Virginia where she met and fell in love with Lt. AJ Specia. Against her family's wishes, she traveled to Fort Bliss to marry her Texas Aggie, AJ. They were members of the "Great Generation." When AJ was shipped out to the Pacific, Teddie moved in with her Mother in law and Father in law in San Antonio and taught school. After the birth of her three children, she became active in the PTA becoming President and helped found the SA Aggie Wives Club becoming President as well. She was a fantastic painter and won many awards for her work, with one "Best of Show" in the San Antonio River Art show in 1972. A great shot, she enjoyed deer hunting with AJ at their ranch near Junction. As a Long Island Sound native, Teddie missed the water. To fulfill that part of her life, in 1949 the family bought a small fishing cabin on Lake McQueeney, where she excelled at water skiing from the early 50s. This foresight provided her family and friends with wonderful summer days for four generations. We will never forget those happy days. Teddie was a member of The Aggie Wives club, and past member of The San Antonio Art League, River Art Group, Randolph Art League, and Board member of Texas Water Color Society as well as a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Teddie is preceded in death and now reunited with her husband AJ, daughter Cynthia and Husband Ron Shade, and granddaughter Alethea. She is survived by her sons AJ Jr. and wife Anna, Richard and wife Carol Case, grandchildren AJ Specia III, Michelle Specia, Charles Shade, Step-grandchild Andrinna Kane, husband Paul Kane, Step-great-grandchildren Carlie True Kane and Andrinna Olivia Kane. Our thanks to all the staff and many friends who made The Towers a wonderful place for her to live. Thanks to the loving care provided by Irma Ortiz's Care Givers. She loved you all. We are thankful for Heart to Heart Hospice and head nurse Cathy Compbell for their incredible support.

The family will receive friends at 5:30pm, on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
