Obituary

On Friday, July 10th, 2020, Alfred "Al" John Rodriguez, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and nephew, passed away at age of 62.

Alfred was born on July 19, 1957 in San Antonio, TX to Joe and Lucinda (Saldana) Rodriguez. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Trinity University with a computer science major. Alfred was an intelligent and inquisitive young boy growing up, impressing his teachers especially in the areas of math and science. A nerd at heart, but also with a heart of gold, he was always willing to help others with his time and resources. Alfred's extraordinary work ethic and capabilities earned him praise as a highly valued technical consultant of over 20 years with Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP). He was a Master trouble shooter and problem solver of enterprise computer systems, highly regarded by his over 500 corporate clients in 16 countries worldwide. His most recent work had been as a senior research scientist and owner of ARTECH Technologies, where he was conducting research on quantum entanglement and gravity waves, technology which would allow home Wi-Fi to be used globally.

Alfred had a wonderful spirit, a quick wit, and was well known for his humor. He loved to make people laugh, and he was exceptional at doing so. He was able to spontaneously come up with original jokes, one liners and funny stories, and would frequently have gatherings of friends and family roaring with laughter. Alfred also loved to entertain by singing karaoke. He dazzled audiences with his uncanny ability to recite from memory many songs from various genres, including some of the most difficult rap songs! It was this bright personality and zest for life that attracted the love of his life, Helena, to him. They married in 2005, and have enjoyed countless wonderful memories together, ranging from trips to various parts of the world, to simple strolls down the San Antonio Riverwalk. Alfred adored Helena and was happiest when she was by his side. He was also blessed with a daughter, Dr. Gina Marie Rodriguez, from his first marriage, and was so proud of the outstanding young woman she has become. Alfred was a truly exceptional individual who loved his family with all his heart, was generous with his resources to a fault, and used his extraordinary talents to brighten people's day and make this world a better place to live.

Alfred was preceded in death by his father, Joe. He is survived by his mother, Lucinda; his loving wife Helena; his daughter Gina Marie Rodriguez; his stepson Blu Gonzales (Nathalie); his stepson Golden Gonzales (Michelle); his sister Josie Austin (Doug); his brother Joe Rodriguez (Lupe); his brother Carlos Rodriguez; his sister Cynthia Garcia (Ronald); one aunt, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life will be conducted at a later date due to the coronavirus situation.
