Obituary

Alfred L. "Al" Bond, 75, went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Isabelle Bond; and sisters, Mary Brinkley and Patricia DeVries.

Al was born in Chicago, IL. After graduating from high school in Savanna, IL, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served four years, being stationed in Libya, France, and Ohio.

After his discharge, he worked in the banking industry, eventually retiring from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Albuquerque, NM. He later moved to San Antonio, TX so he could spend lots of Grandpa Time with his grandson, Isaac.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cruising, but his favorite times were spent simply relaxing on the patio in the back yard with his dog, Frankie, while they both kept an eye on the squirrels and birds gathered around the feeders.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Joan; son, James (Janice) and grandson, Isaac of San Antonio; son, Brian (Victoria) of San Diego; brother, Charles (MaryJane) of Sterling, IL; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Al was a faithful member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Porter Loring Morutary North at 11:00 AM, Monday June 29, 2020, with interment at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Threads of Love, Sarah Chapter, San Antonio, TX at www.threadsoflovesa.org/.
