Obituary for Mrs. Barbara Jean Robinson

August 18, 1932 - March 13, 2018
San Antonio, Texas | Age 85

August 18, 1932 – March 13, 2018

Barbara Jean Robinson (nee Bruckner), at 85 years of age entered eternal rest on March 13, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. Barbara was born to Alfred William and Fern Lilian (nee Crom) Bruckner in Ypsilanti, Michigan on August 18, 1932. She is survived by her sister Marlene Mae Waterstradt (Frederick), sons Thomas William Robinson (Margie Porter), and Keith Robinson (Nelwyn Barnett Robinson). Additionally, as Nana, she is survived by her grandchildren Thomas (Tommy) Richard, Jillian, Chloe Flores, Sonny, Rhayella, Randi Lynn and Olivia. She was preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Thomas Earl Robinson and son Dennis Richard Robinson.

Barbara graduated from Dundee High School, Dundee Michigan, and briefly worked for Kaiser-Fraiser Automobile Company. Barbara attended Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan, and it was there she met her future husband Tom, and they married May 8, 1953. Shortly thereafter they embarked on their Air Force life together, spending time in Germany. Eventually, they settled in Ann Arbor, Michigan with their three small boys Tom, Dennis, and Keith. Barbara was a loving mother, investing a great deal of time toward her boys and all their activities, from trips to the library, to freezing cold football games and track and cross country meets, to a variety of band and orchestra concerts, as well as scouts and Junior Achievement. It was during her time in Ann Arbor that she developed a love of and ability to create beautiful dried and silk flower arrangements. From Ann Arbor they moved to Kingsville, TX where Barbara continued her work with flowers, working for two floral shops in the Kingsville area, and exhibiting her arrangements at various arts and crafts fairs.

Barbara and Tom devoted a great deal of their time, especially in retirement, to serving their church through teaching Sunday school, leading Bible studies and prayer services, participating in Vacation Bible School, and serving on various committees. Together they enjoyed many spiritual retreats at the Mount Wesley Retreat Center, and both were deeply influenced by their Walk to Emmaus experiences.
