Betty Alden White of Alamo Heights, San Antonio passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018. After college at Agnes Scott in Georgia she worked in Washington, DC as a nurses' aide where she met her first husband, John White.

As an officer's wife she traveled the world and helped train many young officer's wives in the Army protocols. She and John retired to Boerne, Texas where they continued to volunteer with the Red Cross. Upon John's death, she moved to San Antonio and married Robert Hemmick, Jr. and continued traveling.

She loved gardening, reading, traveling and quilting. Having visited and lived in San Antonio on and off since the 1950s she had developed strong friendship and loyalties in the community.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Maj. Gen. Alden and Kathryn Waitt of San Antonio; Brig. Gen. John White; Robert Hemmick, Jr; and her brother Col. Thomas Waitt.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Seeburg (Mick) of Bozeman, MT, Betty White of San Antonio, Margaret Anderson (Carl) of Ingram, TX; grandchildren, Noel Seeburg, Lara Seeburg, Quinn Taborski, Kate Dennis and Kyle Dennis; and 2 great-grandchildren; nieces Alden and Shelley Waitt and nephew Tristan Waitt.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Red Cross or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

A private memorial will be held at a later date
