Beany also participated for many years as a spouse in the Alamo Kiwanis Club activities. Following her retirement from teaching, Beany enjoyed travelling to Asia, Europe and Canada with her husband (2nd) of 27 years, Col. Charles M. (Charlie) Berkey. In recent years she made many new and treasured friends during happy hours at the Petroleum Club.
