Obituary

Bobby L. (Bob L.) White passed away on November 7, 2018, at his home. He had been battling COPD and asthma for several years. Bob was born in Fall Branch, Tennessee, on November 9, 1943. The country doctor stayed the first night because he had pneumonia, a foreshadowing of the illness that ended his life. Bob lived with his wife, Deanna, in Kingsport, Tennessee, until he was transferred with Consolidated Freightways to Corbin, Kentucky, in 1973. He worked as Terminal Manager for Consolidated Freightways in El Paso, Texas, and San Antonio, Texas. In 1986, he opened his own trucking company, Bob White Express, located in Selma, Texas.

He attended East Tennessee State University. He was in the United States Air Force for four years. He served as President of the Corbin Country Club in the 1970's where he pursued his passion for golf. He was involved in soccer in San Antonio. He was one of the founders of the Generals Soccer Club in the 1990's and served as President at one time. He was a member of the Missing Man Post 667 of the American Legion in Universal City, Texas. He was also a member of the Northern Hills United Methodist Church in San Antonio.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Deanna McCrary White; son, Erik Berton White; son, Matthew Shipley White and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth White; five grandchildren, Ethan, Cullen, Ireland, Harley Ann and Avery Stella; brother, Roger White of Johnson City, TN; sister, Tish McCall of Phoenix, AZ; and Pearl Sanchez, a long-time employee of Bob White Express and family friend. Bob was preceded in passing by sister, Billie Gilley, formerly of Bluefield, WV.
