Obituary for Brian C. Bugge

November 25, 1957 - April 18, 2018
LaVernia, Texas | Age 60

Brian C. Bugge was born November 25th, 1957 to Margaret and Clifford Bugge in Thief River Falls Minnesota. A man of the wilderness, Brian loved everything about the mountains and the water. One of his children's, Brian James and Nikki, favorite memories of their childhood was camping on the Oregon Coast for two weeks during the summer. They spent their time flying kites, swimming in the frigid ocean waters, combing the beach for seashells and falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach every night.

Brian spent his younger years exploring the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the rivers of Southern California and generally living life to the fullest. All his friends called him "Boog" and he was always up for an adventure. Not one for succumbing to fear, he would explore the American River during the summer time for lost tourist treasures at the bottom of the rapids using snorkeling gear. He had an infectious laugh, and an endless sense of humor that was famously known for telling Old Man Jokes, or "OMJs". Most of all Brian was strong and kind. Everyone around him felt those traits emanate from him and drew upon them.

With Brian, nothing was ever broken - he always knew how to fix anything mechanical or electrical and was a master woodworker. He had a fondness for raising animals, especially fish. It wasn't abnormal for there to be an aquarium or pond around Brian's homesteads.

Ever loyal, Brian committed the last 30 years working for TEREX building heavy equipment and eventually managing their operations. His position eventually took him to the San Antonio area for the last 10 years of his life. He met Brenda, his wife, and her two daughters, Alyssa and Victoria shortly after moving to Texas and enjoyed every minute creating new memories with them. He loved to spend time with them on their family property, working outdoors and playing by the pool in the summer time.

Brian led a life that will leave an indelible mark on all those whom he touched. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He passed quietly and peacefully on April 18th, 2018 at his home in La Vernia, Texas with those he loved dearly surrounding him. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Bugge. Brian is survived by his wife, Brenda Bugge; mother, Margaret Bugge; daughter, Patricia Burns (Aaron); son, Brian J. Bugge (Ashley); daughter, Alyssa Short (Christian); daughter, Victoria Hrncir; grandchildren: Elliot, Kalius, Isabel, Hudson, and Kaylee; brother, Joel Bugge; and sister, Tami DiGirolamo (Mark).
