Lieutenant Colonel Bruce L. Frederickson peacefully passed away after a brief illness on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the age of 70.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, February 16, 1947, to parent's Bernice Carlson and Carl Frederickson. He graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. His military education includes Squadron Officer School in 1978 and Air Command and Staff College in 1982.

In September 1966, Colonel Frederickson enlisted in the Air Force as a fuel specialist serving in Panama, the Republic of South Vietnam and Japan. He received his commission from Officer Training School in November 1973 and completed undergraduate pilot training at Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma in January 1975.

He served in Yokota, Japan as an air craft commander in the 345th Tactical Airlift Squadron until September 1979 when he was selected as an instructor pilot and chief of airfield management with the 82nd Flying Training Wing, Williams Air Force Base, Arizona.

August 1983 was to the 317th Tactical Airlift Wing at Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina where he was lead pilot and served as the Airlift control element Operations Officer from July 1987 to July 1989. Colonel Frederickson was assigned to the Air Staff at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. as Chief of Special Airlift.

He retired as a Director, Specialized Management in April of 1995 in San Antonio Air Logistics Center, Air Force Logistics Command, Kelly Air Force Base, Texas.

Colonel Frederickson's decoration and awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with an oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the RVN Campaign Medal.

He is predeceased by his brother, Richard Frederickson; and daughter, Melanie Christenson, He is survived by daughter, Amanda Harp; and three grandchildren, Seth Martinez, Colton Harp and Emelie Harp. He will always be remembered as a patriot, loving father and grandfather.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 3:00PM-5:00PM at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
