Obituary

Carlos M. Caballero was called home to join the angels of God on the morning of July 6, 2020. Carlos was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 14, 1965 to Eloisa Sanchez and Carlos A. Caballero.

Carlos spent most of his of life in Austin, Texas. He relocated to San Antonio, Texas about ten years ago. Shortly after relocating to San Antonio, he suffered a massive brain hemorrhage that left him disabled and wheel chair bound due to his right hemiparesis.

Despite all of his hardships and his physical limitations, Carlos was determined to live his life to the fullest. At the nursing home, he was described as being jovial and a "jokester." He liked helping others. He would take the initiative to assist the nursing home staff with cleaning the tables after meals and sweeping.

Carlos was an avid Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs Super Fan!!! Carlos was a fun a guy to watch sporting events with. Carlos was always vocal and had input about the plays and the calls during the games. It was a fun and good time watching the games with Carlos.

Our brother Joey described Carlos as "a loving brother with a good heart." Joey was very close to Carlos and would drive from Houston, Texas to take Carlos out and spend time with him. Carlos always looked forward to going out on the town with Joey. Carlos would keep track of his "brother to brother" time on his calendar! The outings brought him great joy.

Carlos loved spending time at the ranch with his sister Patricia and all of her animals. He would frequently remind his sister to pick up carrots from the store, so he could give the donkeys a treat. He truly loved animals and they loved him. At the ranch, Carlos was surrounded by many cats and dogs, but Smokey, the lab in particular, was very special to him. Carlos loved nature and plants and looked forward to helping his sister Patricia water the plants at the ranch.

Carlos is preceded in death by his parents and his Austin cat Jewel. Carlos is survived by his seven siblings: Patricia, Linda, Alicia, Gregorio, Juan, Joey, and Mary Ann. He is also survived by two nieces and five nephews.

Carlos's Niece Celeste, describes Carlos as, "Always having a smile on his face. He would always say the kindest things to me and compliment me. He always made me feel special and loved. I know he will be an angel, looking after me and others now. It hurts tremendously that I was not able to say goodbye or tell him that I loved him, directly before he passed, so quickly and unexpectedly. However I can only pray that he is or will soon be at peace. I look for comfort in the idea that his big heart and kind spirit that cared so greatly for humans and cared so greatly for animals will allow him to be officially crowned with the halo he deserves. I love you Uncle Carlos and I miss you already. I will miss your jokes, all of the fun times and big laughs at the dinner table with family, your fun spirit and cool nature, and most of all your compassionate heart that always found a way to bring joy to others and always found a way to put a smile on my face and the face of others, even though you yourself had been through so much hardship during your life. I love you and miss you already Uncle Carlos, and I will forever hold you in my heart."

Carlos will be greatly missed and his kind spirit and big smile will always be remembered in our hearts.
