Carol Franson Samusson
December 13, 1921 – November 19, 2018

Carol Franson was born at Fort Knox, Kentucky in 1921 to Paul Oscar Franson and Ruby DeVault Franson.

Her father was a career military officer and she spent her childhood as an "Army Brat", living in the Philippines, Wyoming, Kansas and many other duty stations.
While stationed in Chicago as a girl she participated with her father in a "Father-Son" rifle marksmanship team. She was also a keen equestrian and enjoyed the art of dressage.

In June 1942 she married her college sweetheart, 1st Lieutenant Ernest Samusson, Jr., a love story that continued for 76 years. Ernest Samusson served in the military for 30 years and Carol was the family rock during deployments in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking and travel and for many years was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church.

Carol is survived by her husband Colonel (Retired) Ernest Samusson, Jr. of San Antonio, daughter Judith Black of Hoschton, Georgia, and Jon Leigh Samusson of Pembroke Pines, Florida. Grandchildren Richard Black Jr., Frank Ernest Samusson, Ana Samusson, Analisa Samusson and great-grandchildren Davis Black and Bella Samusson.
