Obituary

A bright light was extinguished when Carol Lemmen (a.k.a. Carol Coleman), passed away on Monday May 14, 2018 at age 65. Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and beloved friend and her vibrancy, wit, and warmth were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Carol was born in 1952 in Leesville, Louisiana to Melvin and Meldred Davis and grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from New Mexico State University and served her country for over 40 years with the U.S. Army Civil Service. Notable assignments included Garrison Manager at Yuma and Dugway Proving Grounds in Arizona and Utah respectively, and volunteering for a six-month assignment as a Deputy Commandant in Baghdad, Iraq. Carol was fierce and fearless throughout her career, prioritizing integrity and the U.S. Army, soldiers and their families, and civilians always. She was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service and Joint Civilian Service Awards for her distinguished service, among other awards. Her final assignment brought her back to San Antonio, Texas, where she made her home.

In San Antonio she found her passions: cooking and travelling. She went from an expert at takeout and restaurant menus to a full gourmet cook, entertaining friends with magnificent dinner parties. Four years ago, she met the love of her life, Petro Lemmen, the old-fashioned way, through friends' matchmaking. They were made for her each other, both sharing a love of fine wine, food, and travel. They married, setting about to tour the world, and so they did, travelling throughout six of the seven continents. Antarctica was the only one that remained to be explored.

Carol is survived by her cherished husband, Petro and his two daughters Ketrina and her children Rhett and Rhys and Celina and her daughter Emery and her sons in law Jarhett and Kelly, and her son, Shawn Coe and Kim Budzinski, and their children Skyler and Lucas, as well as Lindsay, her stepdaughter. Additionally, she leaves behind her siblings Sheryl, Gayle, Butch and Keith, as well as nieces, nephews and a legion of friends.

There is a new star brightening the arctic night and the heavens tonight and its name is Carol. She is raising a glass to us, saying" Cheers, my Dears, until we meet again!"
