Obituary

Carolyn Sue Barnhart,73 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 19, 2018, in New Braunfels, Texas. She was with her beloved husband of forty-four years, surrounded by the comforts of their home. Her final days were spent with family by her side which always made her happy.

Carolyn, was born January 1,1945 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Walter Prusick and Florence (Albertson)Prusick. She had two sisters, Elaine Peak and Judith Lowe.

In late 1970, Carolyn met her soulmate, Arthur Barnhart. On August 25,1973, they married. They remained in St. Louis, Missouri until 1979, when they relocated their family of five to San Antonio, Texas. Over the course of her life Carolyn worked as a beauti-cian, a secretary, and in customer service. However, she was always the most content at home full-time raising her children, with her husband, managing their home.

Carolyn was an amazing cook and host to one guest, or thirty. Her idea of a casual dinner still included neatly folded paper napkins and properly placed silverware. When she entertained, it was typically homemade, down to the salad dressing. It was always a care-fully thought out and planned meal, that at times took her weeks to put together. Neatly pressed linens, fine china and attention to the smallest detail were a must, and honestly, just the basics in her mind. She volunteered at school for her children, made costumes by hand, decorated their home for every holiday, and put such personal thought into any gift, down to the wrapping paper and bow. Carolyn came from a generation where being a full-time homemaker, mother, and wife was respected and appreciated. She truly gave the very best years of her life to her family.

It has been said by many that there was no love as deep as that shared between Carolyn and her husband Art. The unwavering sup-port and dedication they displayed, especially in the final years of her life, stands as a solid testament to what their marriage vows truly meant to them. To love unconditionally until the end, as bittersweet as that may be. To love when the glory days became distant memories on a snapshot buried in a photo album. To love when outer beauty fades and the body begins to succumb to the test of time. But most important, in those final days, to love, and still see the essence of the heart and soul of the one you married in a failing body. That is just a sliver of the love they shared. Forty-four years of marriage, three children, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and another great-grandchild, due in October. Carolyn's legacy lives on through each of them.
