Cecil Elliot Schenker, a lifelong San Antonio resident, passed away Monday, February 14, 2017 at his home surrounded by family and friends at the age of 74.
Cecil graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960. He then attended University of Oklahoma, followed by the University of Texas Law School: a source of great conflict come football season. He practiced law in San Antonio for nearly fifty years; beginning with his father, Herbert, at Schenker Rosenheim and Schenker. Later the firm merged with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld where he went on to serve as managing partner. The firm grew to become the city's largest for nearly two decades under his stewardship. He specialized in securities, emerging growth and mergers and acquisitions and over his career he worked with companies such as Taco Cabana, House of Blues, Romano Group LLC, Fuddruckers, Boston Market, PF Changs, IPO Investment bankers, the San Antonio Spurs, and countless others. He finished his legal career with Cox & Smith before retiring due to health reasons.
Cecil was such a powerful force. He was a true mentor and an amazingly giving friend. His infectious smile, his quick wit and adventurous spirit will fill the hearts of so many he touched. A family man of the first order, Cecil left behind a lifetimes worth of memories and stories. The void in their hearts will never be filled, but the torch he lit will be carried on.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Schenker and his mother, Gertrude Schenker. Cecil is survived by his wife, Dona of 44 years; his two sons, Alexander Max Schenker and Max Elliot Schenker; his beloved daughters in law, Denae Farley Schenker and Barbara Ziegler Schenker; and his two grandsons, Colton Alexander Schenker, and Ty Cecil Schenker.
