Obituary for Cora Susan Smith Schumacher

December 22, 1944 - June 19, 2018
San Antonio, Texas | Age 73

Cora Susan Smith Schumacher, "Suzy" "BB", went to Heaven on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. She is survived by her husband Robert "Bobby" L. Schumacher; her children Anita Simpson Wallace and her husband Frank, of San Antonio, TX, Samuel Pruit Simpson V and his wife Margaret, of Richmond, VA, step son Jacob Schumacher and his wife Keely, of Austin, TX; her five grand-daughters Catherine Simpson, Kelsey Wallace, Suzanne Wallace, Mary Lewis Simpson and Sydney Simpson; her sister Anita Ruth Smith and brother Thomas N. Smith III of San Antonio, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends as close as family. She was predeceased by her daughter Susan Kelsey Simpson, and her parents T. Noah Smith Jr. and Anita Ruth Smith.

Suzy was born and raised in San Antonio, and spent much time in Boerne at the Deep Hollow Ranch, as well as her family's iconic "Yellow House" in Rockport. She was a proud graduate of St. Mary's Hall. While there she was chosen as a cheerleader at TMI. After graduation Suzy attended Finch College in New York City for a year. She returned to Texas. She was a loving mother and wife to Sam Simpson for many years while dedicating volunteer time to Corpus Christi State School, KLRN and The Jr League of Texas.

The ups and downs of life led Suzy to a new career and new family life with "Bobby" to whom she continued to share her love and dedication. Despite her lifelong efforts she was never a good singer or whistler, but loved music and the arts and had natural good taste in clothing and d├ęcor. She was a talented and instinctive gourmet cook, and her accumulated experience and good advice will be missed by all those who loved her and relaxed in her kitchen with her.
