Obituary

Officer David A. Stovall, age 57, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on October 8th, 1960 in England to Billie Stovall and Eileen Mullaney. David graduated from Rocky Point High School, N.Y., class of 1979. He attended Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio where he pitched for the Marietta Pioneers. David joined the United States Army December 1983 where he served honorably for nearly 9 years with 3 overseas tours including Desert Storm. He graduated from the San Antonio Police Academy, January 1994 and worked the dog watch shift through the East Sub Station out of the academy then through the NE Sub Station for several years before transferring to the East Sub Station daylight shift where he worked until his passing.

David celebrated Christ through his membership at Community Bible Church. He, with his wife Ellen, cofounded 2 nonprofit organizations: Rescuers United for Furry Friends (RUFF) & Blue Angel German Shepherd Dog Rescue where he along with his family have rescued and rehomed hundreds of unwanted pets. He was also a long time member of the San Antonio Kennel Club and a well-respected member of the San Antonio Rescue community.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Mullaney & his father-in-law Barry Coveney.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ellen Stovall; his son, Ryan M. Stovall; his father, Billie Stovall; brothers, Paul & Mark Stovall & Thomas O'Donoghue; his sisters, Elizabeth Reilly, Virginia Kuzemchak & Mary Ellen Stovall-Moshman; his mother-in-law Hildy Noonan; brothers-in-law, Brian, Kevin & Sean Coveney and his sister-in-law, Karen Coveney.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 28, 2017, beginning at 1:00 P.M., at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
