Denise Mathis Miller, age 59, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas after a short, but brave battle against Leukemia. She was born in San Antonio, Texas to Jerry and Joyce Mathis on July 4, 1959.

Growing up she was an avid dancer and spent many years dancing through Hermann Sons. Denise attended Roosevelt High School in San Antonio. After high school she began a career in banking spending multiple years at Bank of America, World Savings, and Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union. She always had a smile on her face and greatly enjoyed working with her customers and colleagues.

One of her greatest accomplishments in life was being a mother to Hunter Wayne and Mallory Mathis. She was always there to support her kids along with Tommy in whatever it was they were doing. Her interests quickly became sporting events, band concerts, plays, dance recitals and helping her children grow in their Catholic faith. As her children began college, she quickly became an Aggie and Red Raider fan.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Annie and Albert Kellner, Sr., Yancey and Clara Mathis; aunt, Sallie Thomas; in-laws, Kathryn and Joseph Allen Miller, Sr.; brother-in-law, Joseph Allen Miller, Jr. and Edwin Keller. Denise is survived by her parents, Joyce and Jerry Mathis; Son, Hunter Miller and wife Katie; daughter, Mallory Miller and boyfriend Matthew Keller and their father, Tommy Miller; sister, Sally Burkett and husband Jeff and her brother, Tom Mathis. She is also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, nephews, extended family and Friends. Friends will be received on Thursday, March 21. 2019 from 6:00 till time of Rosary:

The family would like to thank the nursing staff and physicians from Methodist Hospital who cared for Denise and truly loved the family well during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank the amazing friends who have supported her in all aspects of her life.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Miller, Matthew Keller, Tom Mathis, Jeffrey Burkett, Albert Kellner, Keith Kellner, Brian Torrey, and Chris Torrey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or a charity of your choice.
