Obituary

Donald "Don" F. Bearbower, age 74, was called home by the Lord on Sunday, July 29, 2018, in San Antonio, TX. He was born on May 29, 1944 in Waterloo, IA, to parents Vern E. Bearbower and Margaret Ann Hickey.

He met the love of his life Margaret Ann Lopez in the spring of 1966 at the NCO Club downtown San Antonio when he was stationed at Randolph AFB. They fell in love at first sight and were married August 6, 1966. Soon after they were married he would be called to serve his country in Vietnam. When Don returned home from Vietnam he went to work at USAA where he retired after 40 years.

He was a very loving, giving, outgoing, and caring person. He never met a stranger. He would strike up friendships everywhere he went. The bank tellers at his local credit union, the office staff at the doctor's, and the members of the La Cantera Golf Club that he worked at after he retired from USAA. Every restaurant around the neighborhood knew what his order was before he even gave it to them.

He served on the committee of the Valero Texas Open. He loved golf, football, and the San Antonio Spurs. But the most important thing in life was his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Vern and Margaret Bearbower; and his siblings: Patricia Conrad, Verna Hildebrand, and Ronald Bearbower.

Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret Ann Bearbower; sons, Donald F. Bearbower II and Robert A. Bearbower (Roxanne); grandchildren, Jackson Scott and Jordan Anne Bearbower; sister, Shirley Rauchy; brother, Steve Bearbower (Linda); and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly as his own.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, on Monday, August 6, 2018, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
