Obituary

Edna Marie Snow Redding, 97, went to be with the Lord, and her beloved husband, Sam, on Monday, May 8, 2017, just 19 days before what would have been their 78th wedding anniversary. Edna was born July 9, 1919 in Clyde, Texas to Ralph and Susie Snow. She was one of twelve children. Edna met Sam Redding and they were married on May 27, 1939. Together they had two daughters, Sandra Kaye Bailey and Patricia Lea Pond. Edna's young life was spent helping her family farm as they traveled back and forth from Texas to California. After she wed, Edna devoted her life to caring for her husband and daughters.

Edna enjoyed fishing, sewing, bowling, Bunco, cooking, and gardening in her flower beds. She enjoyed watching sports, especially the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys, and listening to music. Although she never did become a millionaire, Edna thoroughly enjoyed her scratch off Lotto tickets. Later in life, Edna became a grandma to Tracy Pond Shingler, Susan Pond Meinen, and William Jarred Bailey. She was a great presence and influence in her grandchildren's lives. She was thrilled to welcome Tim, Brian, and Sylvia into her family. Edna was even more excited to be a great-grandma to Ryan Shingler, Blaine and Landon Meinen, and June and Miles Bailey. Edna not only "mothered" her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was a Granny to all that needed one at the time.

Edna adored her sisters and brothers and always looked forward to visiting with them, whether it be in person, on the phone, or a good old fashion letter. Edna lived and enjoyed a long happy life. Edna is preceded in death by her sisters: Faye, Verna, Doris, Norma, and Betty, as well as her brother Robert. Surviving siblings are brothers Ralph, Jim, and Don and sisters Carole and Frances Ann. She also leaves behind her sister in-laws, Lela Cook, and Jean Redding, and brother in-law, Joe Hunter along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Porter Loring on McCullough.

On Friday, May 12th, a funeral service and interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Chapel at 1:00 pm.
