Obituary

Edward James Jaramillo, Sr., age 69, of San Antonio, Texas, went with our Lord on Monday evening, November 04, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. Born December 10, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, he was the son of the late Ben V. Jaramillo and Augustina Del Bosquez. He was preceded in death by his loving parents; his sister, Leticia Segovia; and brother, Jose Gomez.

Eddie graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1970, before serving in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1975. He then attended Southwest Texas State University, where he graduated in 1980. Subsequently, he found his calling as a high school teacher and sports coach at Sam Houston High School, where he worked for 32 years. He often said how much he loved teaching because he knew he was making a difference in students' lives. Years later, his former students often sought him out to thank him for the mentorship, friendship, and guidance that "Mr. J" so devotedly provided. He met his bride, Mary Lou Rodriguez, in the summer of '69, they married in 1974, in San Antonio, Texas.

Eddie was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an active member of his community. He was a very loving husband and father. He was a very involved member of many of his children's sports and Boy Scouts of America activities. He loved helping out Holy Rosary parish with festivals and other events. He loved having fun, laughing, talking, and was always happy. His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Lou Jaramillo; along with 3 children, Edward Jaramillo Jr. (Kathryn Barenberg), Christopher Jaramillo, and Erica Urrabaz (Mark Urrabaz); 6 grandchildren, Sierra Jaramillo, Liam Urrabaz, Robert Jaramillo, Lucas Urrabaz, Sofia Jaramillo, and Livia Urrabaz; eight siblings, Jo Ann Miller, Anthony Jaramillo (Debra), Tina Jaramillo (Mario), Casimira Cirlos, Ben Jaramillo, Rick Jaramillo, Robert Jaramillo; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

The family will receive friends from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, Monday, November 18, 2019 at Porter Loring Mortuary.
