Mrs. Eleanor (Martinez) Quintanilla, born on July 11, 1922 in SAN ANTONIO, Texas, to the late Simona Ramos Martinez and the late Leo B. Martinez Sr., passed away at age 96 on August 5, 2018. Eleanor was married to the late Manuel Quintanilla.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Leo Martinez Jr.; and sisters, Juanita Reeves, Genevieve Salas, Gladys Martinez, Frances Flores, Mary Louise Gutierrez, and Simona Harper.

Eleanor is survived by her sons, Larry Quintanilla, Victor Quintanilla and wife, June, and Gabriel Quintanilla; daughters, Rosemary Quintanilla and Eleanor Quintanilla Flynn; grandchildren Larry Jonathan Quintanilla and wife Andrea, Derek Quintanilla, Corey Quintanilla, Donald Flynn, Marc Flynn, Matthew Flynn, Danette Dufilho and husband John, and great grandchildren Joaquin Quintanilla and June Dufilho.

Eleanor loved the San Antonio Spurs—and was thrilled when Congressman Joaquin Castro presented her with a video-taped message from Matt Bonner, who she nicknamed "The Red-Headed Angel." Eleanor loved Sea Island, tending to her garden, and prayed two Rosaries a day. In her youth and later years, she was one of the top sales clerks at Joske's Downtown in Ladies Sportswear and was much sought after by customers from Mexico.

Eleanor had a huge following on Facebook, who loved her dearly. After her stroke in 2013, Eleanor helped pave the way for other handicapped and elderly Medicare patients to get proper skilled nursing care and was featured at the 2016 Medicare Summit in Washington DC.

Friends and family can pay their respects at the visitation on Wednesday, August 15 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough. Following that, there will be a rosary service at 7:00 p.m.

1:30 PM

Interment will be at San Fernando Cemetery II.
