Obituary

Ellen Louise Brient was born February 8, 1931 at the family ranch near Bandera, Texas. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 20, 2018. Ellen was a member of the Bandera High School Class of 1949 and graduated from Texas Women's University in 1953. She taught at the Radford School in El Paso, Sul Ross College in Alpine, Bandera Middle School, Connel Middle School and Highlands High School. After school hours were spent teaching driver's education. Ellen served as the Director of Camps and Conferences for the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas and she was a director at Kings Ranch Camp for Girls in Bandera.

A dedicated Episcopalian, Ellen was a founding member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Bandera. She was the first woman Senior Warden at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in San Antonio where she served on the vestry for many years. Ellen was also a founding member of Habitat for Humanity for the Diocese of West Texas and served as secretary of that group for 14 years.

Ellen was involved with her college alumni group and was a past President of the San Antonio Chapter. She was also very involved with the Women's Club of Castle Hills Forest.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. Brient and Dannie Jordan Brient, her Aunt Ellen Louise Brient, her sister, Annette Brient Stark, brothers Charles H. Brient, Jr., Robert Daniel Brient and William J. Brient and her nephew-in-law, Eddie Mynier. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ginny Brient, and her nieces and nephews: Dana Mynier, Betty Ford (Clay), Barbara Pfeiffer (Archie), John Stark (Helen), Mike Stark (Doris), Bob Brient (Paulette), Jim Brient (Kathy) and Brenda Pope (Mark). Ellen is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
