LOVING MOTHER, WIFE AND GRANDMOTHER

Obituary

Loving mother, wife and grandmother, Elvira Dominguez Lopez, age 89, went to be with Lord on Saturday, January 20, 2018. Born in Martin, TX, she was raised during the Great Depression and knew the meaning of poverty and understood the importance of hard work. She met and married Augustin S. Lopez and together instilled the value of education and faith in their children. She was devout in her faith, attending services and lighting candles in honor of those in need until she could no longer attend.

In her youth, she could be found dancing with our Dad. She loved all types of music and was a wonderful singer. Elvira was known for her kindness and hospitality toward others. She was an avid gardener who was passionate about the upkeep of her yard. Elvira could often be found outside hunting for pecans which she would turn into special treats for her family. She loved cooking and sharing family recipes on traditional food like tamales with her loved ones.
More recently her favorite pastime was traveling with her family on long road trips along with the occasional friendly game of loteria.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Augustin S. Lopez her husband, Roland Lopez their son, and Nicole Norwood their step granddaughter.

Elvira is survived by her daughters: Esmeralda Mendoza (Samuel), Magdalena Quintero (Jose), Jolie Voss, and daughter in-law Maria Lopez; grandchildren: Valerie Mendoza, Bianca Casaubon (Denis), Christopher Mendoza, Jose Quintero III (Kayleigh), Julissa Quintero, Jewel Quintero, Jonah Quintero, Gabriel Lopez and David Lopez; step-grandchildren Mattheu Norwood, and Anna Norwood; two great grandchildren Coraline Harper Casaubon and London Angel Quintero along with numerous other relatives and friends.
