Obituary

Born Betty Evelyn Byrnes on August 27, 1928 in Corpus Christi, Texas and died on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Tatnall Byrnes and Bradford Shearer Byrnes, and her brothers, Albert Livingston Byrnes and Edward Dawson Byrnes of Houston, Texas.

Evelyn moved with her parents to San Antonio during WWII, when her father worked for the War Production Board. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Trinity University. She married Bill Norris Camp on April 15, 1950, at Christ Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her beloved children: daughter, Cynthia Camp; sons, David Camp and wife, Karen and their children, Lindsay and Trevor; Brad Camp and wife, Linda and their children, Michele and Allyson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, June Byrnes of Houston, Texas, and nephews Robert Byrnes and wife, Angie; Paul Byrnes and wife, Loren and their children Mitchell and Avery of Houston, Texas

Evelyn's parents instilled in her the importance of community involvement, and she spent many happy years working in the Junior League of San Antonio, the Battle of Flowers, the Monte Vista Garden Club, the Girl Scouts, but most of all, she treasured her church family at Christ Episcopal Church, where she served in many capacities. In her later years, she enjoyed membership in the History Club, Timely Topics Club, Forum Club, and Colonial Dames.
