Obituary for Flossie Sims

February 18, 1926 - March 31, 2020
San Antonio, Texas | Age 94

Flossie Sims, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 in San Antonio. Flossie was foremost a loving and devoted wife to Bryon O. Sims, Jr. They were married shortly after WWII in 1947. She lovingly supported Byron with 26 household moves over his 40-year career in the Oil & Gas Industry. It has been said that love is the willingness to surrender that which has value to enrich the life of others. Her loving sacrifice to support Byron and her family was evident to all.

She loved her three sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anyone who met her would speak of her grace and kindness. Her character was molded by her love of Jesus Christ. For her family, she passed on that love of Christ. She loved her Colorado cabin not just for the beautiful mountain setting, to her, it was a place her cherished family would gather for over 55 years. Her fun was playing board games after dinner, hearing her family tell stories of the fish caught that day or discoveries made exploring the town and mountain trails. She cherished the wonderful memories of fun and fellowship created at the family cabin. Her love-language was giving.

Flossie left a legacy of love and heart felt service to others. One of her favorite Bible verses was from Proverbs 3: 5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." She's having fun decorating her heavenly cabin and realizing the fruit of her Christian faith.

Flossie is survived by her husband, Byron Oliver Sims, Jr.; sons, Byron Oliver Sims, III, Jerry C. Sims and his wife Allison, Thomas A. Sims and his wife Kathleen; grandchildren, Mark D. Sims and his wife Tricia, Byron O. Sims, IV and his wife Danielle, Kenton C. Sims and his wife Melissa, Warren C. Sims and his wife Toni, William B. Sims and his wife Ashley, Collin T. Sims and his wife Katy; great grandchildren, Aubrie, Jake, Kaitlyn, Jackson, Kenton, Byron V, Delaney, Ben, Baron, and Bobby; nieces, Camia Hyslop, Deba Center, Gina Rubiola, and Vicki Giallanza; and nephews, Richard Carr and Kevin Dempsey.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
