George Carlton Hagelstein, Jr., passed away in the comfort of his home Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at the age of 89. Born June 6, 1928 in San Antonio, Carlton was the only child of Olive Graves Ellis and George Carlton Hagelstein, Sr., who preceded him in death. He is also predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Jane Cameron Hagelstein; son-in-law, Mark A. Judson; and cousin, George C. Mead. He graduated from San Antonio Academy of Texas, Texas Military Institute, and The University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. After graduation, Carlton began his career at the Union Stock Yards, San Antonio, Inc., and was involved in the livestock industry and commercial property business for over sixty years.

In 1984, Carlton was the proud recipient of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce's Joe Freeman Award for Agricultural Achievement. At the time of his death, he was an Honorary Director of Boysville, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and Texas Sheep & Goat Raisers Association. He was an active member of Rotary Club of San Antonio for more than 60 years.

Carlton was a member of The Order of the Alamo, and was honored to preside as President in 1960 at "The Court of Theater." He is also a member of the San Antonio German Club, Merry Knights of King William, Town Club, and the San Antonio Country Club.

He is survived by his daughters; Mary Olive Hagelstein Judson, Jane Armine Hagelstein and Anne Carlton Hagelstein (Liz Braun); granddaughters Jennifer Judson Lake (Ben), Kathleen Judson Dove (Jamison), Laura Campbell Judson, Sarah Carlton Judson, Katie Stubbs (Darin), and Bess Zowarka; and great-grandchildren Adeline Olive and Andrew Benjamin Lake, Cardin and Monroe Zowarka, Gavin, Gage and Lucy Stubbs.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Thornton, Irma Medellin, Rose Ponce and the many other care takers that have served over the years as well as the staff from Personal Care Nursing Service and Kindred Hospice.
