Obituary

George will be remembered as a quiet, faithful and selfless gentleman. Born to Marvin Reininger and Mary Margaret Collins Reininger, both now deceased, George is survived by daughter Renee Reininger and spouse David McShane of Las Vegas, NV, granddaughter Madelyn Williams and great grandson Carter Moore. Seven siblings also survive him: Charmaine Williams (Allen), Nancy Biggs (Gordon, deceased) Peter Reininger (Nancy), Tom Reininger (Nicole), Margo Stiffler (Keith), Marvin Reininger (Barbara), Brigid Gillock (Patrick) along with numerous nieces and nephews. George and Jolene Garner, who died earlier this year, were married from 1972-1991. George and Barbara Parks married in 1998 and Barbara succumbed to breast cancer in 2000. Mary Williams, George's fiancé and companion have enjoyed family, community and church activities, caring for one another for more than a decade. George first became interested in stock show events when as a boy he helped his Dad show registered Guernsey cows at the first San Antonio Livestock Show in 1950. George is a life member of the San Antonio Stock Show, most recently serving on the Souvenir and Hall of Fame Committees. A proud decorated veteran, George served on the USS New in the Vietnam Theater providing search and rescue support to the Marines. George, with thirty years of employment, retired from City Public Service in 2001 as Chief of Operations—Power Plants. For several years he served on the Board of the Local 500 Credit Union and since retirement George enjoyed the regular gatherings of coworkers and friends. A lifelong Catholic, George frequently attended daily mass and served in several volunteer activities at St. Ferdinand's, Blanco and at St. Mark's. A devoted brother and uncle, George was dedicated to his nieces and nephews and faithfully participated in their events and activities, rejoicing in their achievements.
