Obituary

George Scotty Martin joined our Heavenly Father on May 22, 2018. His eagerness to help others and his love of family will always be cherished. His enthusiasm for life and compassion for others will be missed.
Scotty was born in Houston, Texas on December 22, 1935. While growing up, he worked on a tug boat as the cook. Scotty played the accordion and recorded a record. He had a deep passion for animals and raised boxers. He graduated high school and attended Texas A&M University and the University of Houston. He married Beverly Kay Miller on November 16, 1957 and had two children – Michael Wayne and Dana Lynn. He worked as a manufacturer sales representative for Brenner Electrical Sales in Houston for most of his professional career. His job moved him from Houston to El Paso then finally San Antonio.

Scotty and his family were members of Shepherd King Lutheran Church. He was the church baseball coach for his son and daughter. Scotty felt so much love and joy spending time with his grandsons, Scott and Colton, and pride in watching them grow up. He loved cooking, gardening, growing roses, playing baseball, golfing, camping, boating, and most of all, fishing. Scotty and Kay retired and moved to Port Aransas, Texas in 1995. They spent their retirement fishing together and being devoted to their family and friends. After his beloved Kay passed away, Scotty returned to San Antonio, Texas where he reconnected with old friends and made many new friends.

Scotty was preceded in death by his parents, George Paul and Ida Zoe Martin; his wife, Kay; his son, Michael; and his sisters, Ann and Delores. He is survived by his daughter, Dana, and his grandchildren.
