Obituary

George Thomas Best, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. He was born on September 6, 1932, in Haw River, NC to James Edward Best and Willie Terrell. He served his country in the USAF for 23 years and received numerous medals for his service. After his retirement from the military, he went to HVAC school and opened George Best Air Conditioning & Heating, which his daughter will continue to run. In 1999, he lost his leg, but you could still find him on crutches at a jobsite supervising his technicians. Mr. Best was a strong, loving and generous man who made sure no customer went without air conditioning or heating in times of need. In his personal time, George was a fierce competitor and loved playing shuffleboard. He was president of his shuffleboard league for many years. It was there he met his companion, Angie Snyder, who stood by his side throughout his illnesses. He was preceded in death by his parents James Edward Best and Willie Terrell and his wife Rosa Best. He is survived by his children: George T. Best Jr. and wife Hilda Best, Gay Best and Jon Richmond, and James E. Best and girlfriend Pam Aguilar; his grandchildren: Tiffany Williams, Kristan Forbis and husband Jacob Forbis, and Katie Best-Richmond; his 2 great-grandsons: Kane Williams and Kooper Williams; his sisters-in-law: Maria Bucher, Herminia Brittain and Carmen Aguilar; and numerous relatives. The family would like to give a special thanks to his son-in-law Jon Richmond, incredible sisters-in-laws, caregiver Alejandra Pacheco, his nephew Anthony Bucher, his friend Kathy Almirudis and Dr. Hoan Pho for their dedicated care. Visitation will begin on Thursday, April 5th from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary.
