Obituary

Gerald H. Juhnke, husband, father, grandfather, restaurateur, and former U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant, passed away in San Antonio, Texas on May 3rd. He was 85 years old. Jerry was born in Muskegon, Michigan. He married his Muskegon Heights High School sweetheart, the former Violet "Babe" Demos. The couple was married for 63 years and traveled extensively during Jerry's years in the U.S. Air Force. Following his Korean War deployment, Jerry served as aide-de-camp to Eglin Air Force Base Commander, Major General Edward P. Mechling. In 1972, Jerry owned and operated Jerry's Restaurant on the Causeway in North Muskegon, MI and Jerry's Roosevelt Roost in Roosevelt Park, MI. Jerry loved horseback riding in his youth, scuba diving, and power boating with Babe on Lake Michigan from Holland to Grand Traverse Bay in Michigan. Babe passed away in 2014, and his grandchildren became the center of Jerry's world. He enjoyed visiting with them and learning about their adventures. Jerry's favorite Bible scripture was Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding". He is survived by his son (Jerry), daughter-in-law (Debbie), grandson (Bryce), granddaughter (Brenna), and sister, (Donna Kooiman of Grand Haven, Michigan).
