Obituary

"Where you go I will go…" Those Old Testament words of Ruth would be the mantra that would be repeated in Geraldine's life many times as she followed her beloved Aaron to each of the many duty stations the U.S.A.F. took them around the world. It was during WWII when the strong-willed teenager persuaded her parents to let her follow her dashing "Flyboy" to San Antonio where they embarked on a marriage that took them around the world during their seventy-two years together before God called Aaron home in 2013. Geraldine was only 26 years old when she with her little girls boarded a troop ship to sail across the Pacific joining Aaron in Japan. Later, Geraldine was again called to keep the home fires burning when the Air Force sent her beloved across the Atlantic to England. She later joined him in London where she was active in Officers Wives Club activities. As the Vietnam Was escalated, Aaron was recalled to flying duty, flying reconnaissance missions over North Vietnam. His diminutive, brown-eyed spitfire didn't sit around and wait. She packed up her little dog and headed for Korea where daughter Shaaron and husband Chuck were stationed. She spent Christmas with Aaron when he traveled from Vietnam to Korea to see their newborn granddaughter. Among the most memorable of their many travels was a cruise to Alaska with their favorite music makers, Bill Gaither and the Homecoming Friends. Retirement in Kerrville found Geraldine laboring alongside Aaron as they designed and built their hillside dream home. They enjoyed country living for thirteen years before relocating to San Antonio. Geraldine cherished the many friendships made through the Shaklee Nutritional business she and Aaron started and she continued to run after her husband passed away. Music was always a big part of Geraldine's life. She was accomplished pianist, accompanying Aaron's beautiful baritone. They were long-time members of Castle Hills Church where they shared their beautiful music with Regent Care residents. It was a blow that tested Geraldine's mettle when only six months after losing her beloved Aaron, their daughter Judy, joined her Daddy in heaven. Her precious neighbors, Renay and Grace, were there day in and day out to hold her hand as she navigated this heartache. Geraldine is preceded in death by her loving husband of seventy-two years; daughter, Judy; parents, Gerald and Elsie Walker; and brother Gerald Walker. She is survived by daughter, Shaaron and husband Chuck Carroll; granddaughters Nancy and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Aaron; and beloved niece Willene Parry and husband Paul. She is survived also by beautiful Heidi, who is a testimony of why dogs should go to heaven! Special thanks to caregivers, Evie, Benta, Imgard and Kathy, at Senior Haven. After a memorable trip to the Holy Land, Geraldine and Aaron prepared a musical presentation entitled "I Walk Today Where Jesus Walked". Today Geraldine and her beloved Aaron are walking hand in hand along the streets of gold with their Precious Savior as guide, probably singing their favorite rendition of "I've Just Seen Jesus".
