... always found some way to make you laugh or smile ...

Obituary

Gerardo Pena born July 20,1952 and raised in San Antonio, TX. He was a devoted son, father, husband, and friend. He had a passion for sports; win or lose he still supported his teams Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and the Houston Astros. He also liked to go fishing. When you needed a friend or shoulder to cry on he was always there. Never a dull moment when he was around. On his off time, he loved to spend time with his family, BBQing, dancing, and listening to his oldies. His grand babies meant the world to him. He always found some way to make you laugh or smile.

After graduating John F Kennedy High school class of 1971, he joined the US Navy. He was on board the USS Saratoga, which was the second of four Forrestal-class supercarriers built for the US Navy in the 1950's. It was also the sixth Navy ship, and second air craft carrier, to be named for the Battle of Saratoga in the American Revolution War. After returning home was awarded National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

On Jan, 10,1978 he married the love of his life. Two years later they had their first born, Gerardo Jr. and then three years later daughter, Antonia. He then continued his education in law enforcement for approximately 2years as a Park Ranger. Lastly, he started his career as a Via Bus Operator. He worked as a bus operator for 28 years accident free. He retired as a bus operator in August 2007.

On Sunday April 22, 2018 the Lord called him.

He leaves behind his wife Juanita Pena of 41years; son Gerardo, daughter Antonia; granddaughters, Carmelita and Elaina; son-in-law Ricardo; numerous nieces, nephews; his sister-in-law Pauline and brother in law Robert Saldana.

He will be greatly missed but not forgotten. He is free, no more pain, no more suffering and is with the rest of the family.

So, until we see each other again he will forever be in our thoughts and in our prayers.

On Tuesday, May 8th, Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Porter Loring on McCullough.
