Obituary

Gordon Brymer passed away in the early morning hours September 23, 2018. Born April 14, 1931 in Toronto Canada, Gordon was raised by his grandparents and nine aunts. He joined the United States Air Force at 17 and enjoyed a successful thirty-four-year career which began in San Antonio for basic training and ended at Kelly Air force base where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. After receiving his US citizenship, he liked to say, "I was born a Canadian by accident of birth but became an American by conscious choice". Early in his career he met and later married the love of his life, Florence, and they were married sixty-seven years. Gordon's assignments included Vietnam, Illinois, England, Germany (twice), France, Texas, Hawaii, Wake Island, Oklahoma and Alabama. Gordon loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was always there to support and lend a hand in whatever activities the family was involved. He and Florence made their grandchildren their passion, never once being unavailable, too busy for them or saying an assignment was too tough. Gordon is survived by his wife, Florence; children Kelley Kelley and Scott Brymer (Ashley); grandchildren, Hailey, Libby, Benjamin and Scottie Rose. The family will have a private memorial service. Memorial donations can be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.
