Obituary

Guadalupe Ramos Jasso was called by the Lord on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in Converse, Texas. Guadalupe was born July 15, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas and passed away peacefully at age 75. Her departure to Heaven was preceded by her parents, Manuel Sr. and Juana Jasso Ramos; her aunt Josefina Jasso de Perez; and her sister-in-law An Be Ramos. She is survived by her daughter, Francísca María; her sister Socorro; her brothers Manuel Jr., Elias, Felipe de Jesús, Teodoro, Gerardo J., Vicente, and José de Jesús and their spouses and children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; grandniece Lana Anaïs, all Ramos; and her lifelong friend, Ana María Castillo.

Guadalupe was a proud graduate of Jefferson High School and Incarnate Word College, where she received a Bachelor of Science and became the first Ramos to earn a college degree. She taught bilingual elementary education for 41 years and English as a second language for adults for several years in the San Antonio Independent School District. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, a born Guadalupaña, and served Our Lady of Guadalupe through organizing fundraisers, founding and directing El Mariachi La Morenita, and dedicating her life to volunteering for the church community. After retirement, she dedicated her free time to serving our Lord at St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Guadalupe's faith and love in God and Our Lady gave her strength and patience to overcome life's obstacles. Guadalupe loved her family and friends deeply, never lost her laughter or sense of humor in difficult times, and brought joy to all who knew her.

In lieu of sending flowers, her daughter is asking for family and friends to please make a donation in Guadalupe's name to the RAICES organization at https://www.raicestexas.org/. With these donations, we hope to continue her fight for social justice.
