Obituary

Hector Carlos Bove, 42, passed away on July 29, 2020.

The man, the myth, the legend. To most, hearing that description probably sounds hyperbolic. But to anybody that has met Hector, they would probably laugh and say, "Yeah, that's about right."

Hector was a wonderful son, incredible brother, amazing uncle, caring nephew, loving cousin and loyal friend, with a contagious smile and larger-than-life laugh.
Hector was always the brightest light in the room, and if there was a dance floor, he was probably on it dancing and singing. If you can call it that. He was a proud and lifelong social justice advocate and he never met a stranger. If you were his friend, chances are so was your entire family. Hector had unmatched intelligence, charm and was a big kid at heart. He always knew what to do to put a smile on your face.
He was a graduate of Taft High School (San Antonio), Harvard University (Cambridge) and Northwestern University School of Law (Chicago). Hector was a property & casualty attorney at USAA where he served the military community for almost eight years. He previously worked as an attorney at Snell & Wilmer (Tucson), Kirkland & Ellis (Chicago) and Foote, Cone & Belding (Chicago); a senior auditor at Interpublic Group (New York); and a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs (New York).

Hector was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Camilo and Maria de Jesus Camarillo (Max Galvan); his paternal grandparents, Paul and Eleanor Bove; and his uncle and aunt, Camilo and Juanita Camarillo. He is survived by his parents, Donald and Linda Bove; brother and sister-in-law, Christian and Meagan Bove; nephew and niece, Gavin and Kaila Bove; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, who he considered family, including his best friend, Amanda Beck (Stephen, Emma, Gideon).

A private celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5 with only immediate family. Please note that attendance is restricted to comply with COVID restrictions. The memorial service will be live-streamed for extended family and friends. A recorded version will also be available online following the service via this link:
